Volunteer Opportunity - Junior Achievement of Southeastern Pennsylvania

Unlock the potential of hundreds of local 9th grade Reading Intermediate High School students by volunteering
with Junior Achievement of Southeastern Pennsylvania! JA Career Success is an innovative program that equips
students with the tools and skills required to earn and keep a job in high-growth career industries. It is a seven
session program that allows student to explore the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking
in young employees. The JA Career Success curriculum also incorporates lessons on job hunting, resume
writing, and interviewing techniques.

What makes this program so unique? JA Career Success was developed with 21st century job requirements and
expectations in mind, making the curriculum highly applicable and impactful no matter the career field or industry.
Volunteers bring their indispensable life experience, skills, and know-how to the classroom to further enhance the
lesson plans. As a volunteer you can inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders!

  • JA staff will provide training so you are comfortable visiting the classroom. You will be trained in classroom management,
understanding and delivering the JA curriculum, working with the classroom teacher, and communicating effectively with students. Supplementary online support including videos and webinars is also available.
  • The time commitment is minimal compared to the significant impact you make. High school grade-level classes include seven 45 minute sessions.
  • JA provides you with a kit containing all of the session plans and student materials you’ll need to make every minute count.
  • JA staff support is available to answer your questions or make suggestions about your volunteer assignment.
